A typological approach to metaphony

In this talk I will survey the results of a typological investigation of metaphony, a type of stress-targeted vowel harmony process in Romance. I will check the factorial typologies that derive from a set of harmony-driving OT constraints and compare their typological predictions with the empirical observations. Special attention will be given to metaphony in antepenultimately stressed forms.
